Artemis Fowl is a criminal mastermind who has fooled the fairy world several times. However this time his motives are for saving the world, and this concerns Holly Short, LEP Recon officer. And it should because Artemis is having a mental breakdown of epic proportions. Coupled with a prison breakout, this story is filled with action, mystery, and plenty of fantasy. An absolute must read for any Artemis Fowl fans.

War Games takes place in Greece during World War 2. Greece was occupied by the German army, and it was a scary time to be living there. This story is based on actual events, but combined into a fictional story. Petros and his family, who had been living in America, have many hard things to deal with. Hiding their belongings, having a commander live in their home, and helping Greek soldiers however possible create a tense atmosphere where any slip up could cause the entire family to be arrested or even worse. A good book for anyone looking to read a WWII story.

The Scorch Trials by James Dashner picks up with the action and craziness left over from the The Maze Runner. Even though Thomas and the rest of the Gladers have gotten out of the maze, they are still at the beck and call of WICKED. Forced to cross a wasteland which was once a great civilization, the boys will face dangers like they have never faced before. A great sequel, and I can’t wait for the final third book. Highly recommend!

If you liked the Hunger Games series, you’ll love the Maze Runner by James Dashner. It is set in an apocolyptic future where little is known or understood by the participants. Surrounded by large walls with doors that lead only to an unforgiving maze, the boys know that they need to solve it. But there are so many questions. Why are they there? What is happening? How will this end? All of these questions need answers, and the characters may not have time to figure it out. We also have the sequel, Scorch Trials. I loved them!!

Dwight is a really weird kid. He pushes his straw down into his hamburger and then eats the little chuncks out of his straw. He sometimes will only answer your questions with the word, purple. He is plain weird.

Origami Yoda though is a sage who deals his advice to anyone who asks a questions and the results are amazing.

The only problem is that Origami Yoda rests on Dwight’s finger and talks through Dwight’s mouth. How can this be? How can Dwight be answering all these questions and people are benefitting from this advice? Tommy and his friends put together the case file and ask you the reader to decide for yourself. An absolutely funny school story. I loved it.

Jack Gantos is a hugely popular children’s book author who wrote the very successful Joey Pigza series. But in his teen years, he made poor decisions that led him to being put into prison on drug smuggling charges. Prison life forced him to look at his life and make some really hard decisions.

As I was reading it, I learned some of the horrible aspects of prison (Trust me, you never want to go to prison!), and I learned that I was lucky to have people in my life guide me into making the right decisions. Gantos seemed to almost go with the flow of his life, and it got him into serious trouble.

This book is a fantastic read with great description and insight into the life of Jack Gantos, very famous children’s book author.

First off, there are no such things as evil librarians. This piece of fiction is just that. A piece of fiction. I am not part of a special group of librarians that seeks to control the world. That is not why I got into this job. I help students find books, and that is meaningful. But this book is absolutely offensive. If there were a group of evil librarians, we…uh I mean they certainly wouldn’t allow students to find and or read this book. So I’m suggesting to you that you should stay away from the book, and never ever read about this Alcatraz Smedry fellow who obviously is a huge liar and can’t be trusted.

However, if you know where Alcatraz Smedry is, please let Mr. Stencil know. I’ve been meaning to talk to him for quite some time.
