Here’s one more book from the Night Fall collection. This book is much different than my normal horror books as thsi one is a  mix between horror and a mystery book. This book is about a girl named Ella and she LOVES to cook. She has always wanted to have her own  little bakery someday, and when she saw a help wanted sign in a window of a bakery she knew she had to have the job. She tried to get the jopb but her best friend Jasper ruined it for her. When she starts seeing the cookies from that bakery in her school she does not even try them because she never got the job.  Ella then realizes that people are starting to act really weird and that they are dressing more formal day after day. She ends up getting bullied by everyone in the school even her mother and gets suspened because she was not wearing formal clothing. When her mom comes and gets her from school Ella realizes that her mother is just like everyone else in her town. When Ella and her mother finally get home Ella’s mother locks Ella in her bedroom and throws out all of her clothing and tells her that is she wants to be normal that she needs to wear certain clothing. Ella agrees but she still is not a moster like everyone else. She then goes to a meeting and finds out for those who decide not to wear the certain clothing that they will be killed. Ella ends up runing for her life because she was on the verge of being killed. She ends up hiding in the bakery that she didn’t get the job for. She then figures out that the cookies that everyone in her town has had are special cookies with a potion inside them to make everyone the way they are. Ella finds the other potion that will turn everyone back to normal. But will she make it in time?  Why don’t you find out by going to your NCMS media center and check out this awesome book.

The Dead Man in Indian Creek by Mary Downing Hahn

The Dead Man in Indian Creek

I became interested in this mystery because I saw it on a student’s desk.  It will not disappoint.  It was a page turner with the right amount of suspense.  You want to find out what happens to Matt and Parker and you can’t help but cheer for Otis, Parker’s Dog.  The pages seemed to turn on their own, I was so interested.  Great Read!  Enjoy!

Don’t Judge A Girl By Her Cover

Don't Judge a Girl by Her Cover (Gallagher Girls Series #3)

Don”t Judge A Girl By Her Cover was a thrilling mystery novel about 3 teenage girls on a mission to find out who this dangerous kidnapper is. This kidnapper attempted to kidnap one of their very own best friends and they weren’t going to let that happen. Throughout the story the girls go on dangerous missions to find the kidnappers. Ally Carter, the author of this book,  doesn’t include every detail when you read so you have to infer what is going to happen a lot,  but in the end everything comes together! I don’t love reading but I couldn’t put this book down. If you are into mysteries you should definitely read this book!

Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer by John Grisham

Theodore Boone: Kid Lawyer

You may recognize this author’s last name as he is a best selling author of adult suspense and mystery books. Many of his books have been turned into movies. With that said, John Grisham is dipping his toe into the world of young adult lit. Maybe I should say stomping his foot into young adult lit because he has written a fine page turning mystery.

Theo is the only child of two lawyers. His second home is the courthouse. He tends to dabble in law by offering advice to many classmates and town folk. It is one thing to shell out advice about the possibility of suing a younger sibling for stealing an item, but quite another when he gets involved in the biggest murder trial his town has ever seen.

The case looks open and shut, but Theo stumbles upon information that could blow the case wide open. The stakes are high, but Theo won’t rest until justice is served. See if you can put all the pieces of this puzzeling mystery together before the case is sent to the jury. An enjoyable mystery read!
