So how have you been spending your snow days?  Read any good books? Use this space to share your thoughts! I read the new Newbery winner When You Reach Me.  It is a blend of science fiction and realistic fiction and was quite interesting.  Anyone else out there in the blogosphere reading something great?  Let us know.

Scariest Book in the Library?

It’s a brand new year, and Fall usually has the library busy with students wanting ghost stories and mysteries.  What is the scariest book you have ever read?  We have a new scary title in called Skeleton Creek.  Will it be more suspenseful than Project 17? Read them both and let us know what you think. While you are at it, leave a comment with some great scary recommendations for Sykesville Students.

Later in October look for a lunchtime event about ghost stories too!

Asteroid Hits the Moon

Sykesville students choose Life as We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer as their favorite title off of the Black Eyed Susan reading list.  It is a great read.  It tells the story of a family who must learn to survive after the earth has been forever changed when the moon was hit by an asteroid.  It seems the disruption causes all sorts of physical changes in the weather and the tides wiping out huge population centers world wide.  It is a book that will get you thinking for sure!

Homework

Many students at SMS think that homework is a waste of time. A numerous amount of students just want to get out of school and be done with it for the day, but then they come home to face pages and sometimes hours of homework. Ask yourself, where would I be with no homework? I asked a few students from SMS and most of their answers related to the same thing, free of school when I am not there. Let’s say we did a test, or some kind of study, that showed the improvements and declinations in students’ grades from 2 groups, one group with homework, and one without. What do you think the results would be. Which grades would be better? The grades of the kids who listen and class and practice the lesson at home, or the kids who listen in class, but do nothing to practice the skill and get it metaled in to their brain? Answer the question with the answer that you think is smartest. Though before you answer, think to yourself what homework really does for you. Hopefully that changes a perspective.

Hi, I am a new blogger. But I would like to say that si-fi rules. It is great and I love to get comments so send them in.  I also would like a few tips fellow bloggers, so I am not so confused.  I also like the Bone series.

Bone is a book about 3 creatures. One is named bone who is a nice and sweet male. Fonebone is a greedy money lover low liar male.  Smily is dumb and has no brain. He is not ever scared. This trio has fun and dangerous lives while they try to save their world.  (edited for grammar)

And boy were they Amazing singers.  And we all learned that you should do what ever you want in life. Because if your good at it, people should not be booing at you. They should be cheering you on. Life what you make it… so lets make it rock.

Love you all– littlehokie
