A Scorpion Media Blog

The Maryland Educational Media Organization nominates great books each year from which students from all over the state read several and vote on their favorite.  We challenge Sykesville Middle School students to read all 10 of the nominated books in the 6-9th grade category or the 4-6th grade group.  The complete list of the 2009-2010 can be found here Black-Eyed Susan Nominees . We also hope to start discussion pages here about the books. Check back soon to see what is new. The winner for the 2010 award was Schooled . If you are ready to take the challenge, come by the media center and pick up a book mark with the titles of all of the books.  As soon as you have read one of the books, see Mrs. Mayo to answer a few questions about the story.

Don’t worry the questions aren’t hard.  If you read the book, you’ll know the answers.  All students who have read three or more titles on the list will be invited to a special celebration in the spring where students who read all 10 will receive special recognition!
